Edward Alan Davis was born in Marrickville, Sydney, in 1903. He enlisted as soon as war broke out and joined the 6th division. He fought in the Middle East from 1939 to 1942. He was wounded in 1940 when his foxhole took a direct hit from German artillery. From 1943 to 1945 he served with the 6th Division in New Guinea against the Japanese.
