DescriptionWhite porcelain insulator, reputedly from the electrified fence at the Auschwitz concentration camp. Embossed into the base is the number 4079 and the stylised, intertwined letters SP. The insulator was collected by the donor in 1978 from Auschwitz, where it was found with other similar items on a pile of building rubble near the newly built memorial. The donor reports having seen hundreds of identical insulators still attached to the electric fences inside and around the camp.
