TitleChannukah by Camille Fox
Creator Camille Fox
DescriptionOil on canvas painting entitled 'Channukah' by Camille Fox.
"There's an old photo from WWII that I often think about. It shows a beautiful chanukiah on the sill of an open window, overlooking a street with a huge swastika hanging from a balcony.
I have chills when I see this image and also a mixture of sadness and awe at the bravery of the owner of that chanukiah.
My painting is inspired by that image. My chanukiah is also lit by an open window but with the backdrop of Bondi Beach in the distance. I live in a largely caring, inclusive and diverse society, secure in the knowledge that my family can light our chanukiah by an open window.' Camille Fox, 2022
