Valerie Stern played a pivotal role in the early effort for Holocaust Remembrance in Sydney during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The Association was formed in 1982 after a small group of survivors gathered with the idea to give a formal voice for survivors and descendants within the Jewish and wider community. The Australian Association of Jewish Holocaust Survivors was established and it continues to represent survivors and their families in various capacities. Its aim is to perpetuate the memory of the martyrs and heroes of the Shoah.
