The chair was first used around 6 July 1929 for the Brit Mila of their first son Frank. It was subsequently used by their following seven sons and many other members of the Bombay Jewish community. It was kept at the Magen David Synagogue in Byculla. Following the migration of that community, Joseph and Rosalind decided to have it shipped to Sydney, Australia in 1988 and donated it to the Sephardi Synagogue, where a further grandson and great grandson were circumcised. Joseph and Rosalind were married on the 9th of September 1928. Joseph and Rosalind Moses migrated to Australia in December 1966.
