Wilhelm Stiel was born on 5 December 1850 in Eschweiler, Germany to Jacob and Helena Stiel (nee Weinhasuen). He married Karoline Kaufmann who was born on 13 June 1876 in Aachen, Germany. They had three children: Erich born on 19 October 1907, Rudolf born on 20 February 1904, and Kurt who only survived for three days.
Erich and Rudolf were Holocaust survivors who fled Germany in 1938.
Wilhelm passed away on 22 July 1925, prior to the rise of Nazism in Germany
