Letter typed on company letterhead. "1 Penco" stamp attached to top left. Letter served also as an employment reference for George Szekeres. The employment and character reference was probably required for immigration purposes.
George Szekeres was the chief chemist of the analytical and research laboratory of the Bern Fried & Sohne leather company's tannery in Simontornya, Hungary. From Hungary, George Szekeres and his wife Eszther spent several years in Shanghai, then migrated to Australia in 1948. He became a Professor at Adelaide University, and Eszther worked as a teacher in Adelaide, South Australia.
