Hungarian Coat of Arms in top left corner. Official stamp with coat of arms bottom right. Civil Wedding certificate in Hungarian and Italian. The city of Fiume was under various control of Italy, Croatia and Yugoslavia at various times. Document records the religion of both husband and wife, abbreviated to "izr." for "izraelita". this civil wedding certificate was probably accompanied by a religious ceremony and certificate as well.
These are the parents of George Szekeres. His mother Margit Zipser, born 1883, became Arminne Szekeres after marriage. She immigrated to Australia in 1951 and became an Australian citizen in 1957. George Szekeres and his wife Eszther spent several years in Shanghai, then migrated to Australia in 1948. He became a Professor at Adelaide University, and Eszther worked as a teacher in Adelaide, South Australia.
