Description"Igazolvany" document issued by Hungarian Forced Labour Brigade, 22nd October 1944. Certifying service of Georg Szanto from 29th July 1942. Issued in connection with the labour service of his wife, an exemption for her because of her husband's service. In Hungarian.
Georg Szanto born 19th March, 1907, in Budapest. He was a textile engineer and later a textile importer. Georg was placed into forced labour in Hungary around 1942 and was deported 27th October 1944 to Mauthausen, Gunzkirchen. There he worked for U.B. Fahrben company with other deported Jews. After being liberated by the Americans on 5th May 1945, Georg was taken to hospital suffering Typhus. He arrived back in Budapest in 1946 then left in 1958 to come to Australia. Mother's name Gisella Haasz.
