DescriptionDemobilisation Certificate, certificate of discharge from Hungarian Army (Forced Labour Unit) for Georg Szanto. Dated 20th December 1940, Budapest. In Hungarian.
Georg Szanto born 19th March, 1907, in Budapest. He was a textile engineer and later a textile importer. Georg was placed into forced labour in Hungary around 1942 and was deported 27th October 1944 to Mauthausen, Gunzkirchen. There he worked for U.B. Fahrben company with other deported Jews. After being liberated by the Americans on 5th May 1945, Georg was taken to hospital suffering Typhus. He arrived back in Budapest in 1946 then left in 1958 to come to Australia. Mother's name Gisella Haasz.
