DescriptionAward of Merit from the NSW Board of Jewish Education to Erwin Hayman. Erwin was awarded the Louis Pulver Memorial Prize 1943, for his Religious knowledge at the Central Synagogue. There was an annual ceremony held in the Maccabean Hall in December to present the awards.
Erwin Hayman (previously Heimann) was born in 1928 is Posen, Poland, and later lived in Berlin. In 1938 when he was 10 years old, Erwin immigrated to Sydney with his parents Arthur and Clara and his sister Johanna, arriving on 12 September. Erwin was educated in Hebrew through the NSW board of Jewish Education’s Central Synagogue Centre. He received many merit awards for his studies and was very active in the Jewish community throughout his life.
