DescriptionBlack and white photograph depicting antisemitic slogans on banners, Berlin (1938-1939) in German. It has photo studio stamp 'photo kino Berlin ch 2' on reverse side lower left hand corner. The banner reads "Juden nicht erwunscht!", meaning “Jews not Welcome”. A profile of the face of a man with a large nose is featured on either end of the banner. Such a public display of Anti-Semitic feeling increased dramatically in 1938, culminating in a night of violent riots and destruction of Jewish property known as “Kristallnacht”.
