DescriptionMembership Card issued by the Mouvement National des Prisonniers de Guerre et Déportés (MNPGD) National Movement of Prisoners of War and Deportees. The card was issued to Jeanine Rosenberg (married name Yacoel), 3 June 1945. According to the document, she was born in Poland, 21 February 1924 classified as a repatriated political prisoner.
The card was donated by Jeanine’s daughter, Nina Angelo. It is the only surviving item from her mother’s collection; everything else was destroyed in a fire. Nina is sure her mother was in Auschwitz but has no further history.
The MNPGD was formed on 12 March 1944 in Paris, an amalgamation of three previously separate French resistance organisations for returned prisoners of war – the MRPGD, CNPG, and the RNPG. Their mandate was to advocate for the rights and recogition of a returning prisoners in a complex post-war environment.
