Scott Leonard was born in 1966 in Sydney, growing up in Wollongong. Leonard enlisted in the Army in 1988 at age 22. He finished his training in the medial corps in 1992 and served in logistic headquarters. He was posted around Australia and in East Timor. At the end of 2007 Leonard was posted to Iraq. Scott retired from the military soon after Iraq.
