Jack was born on the 29th March 1927 in Manchester, England. His family migrated to Australia in the early 1930s, first to Geelong and then to Brisbane shortly after. Jack’s father had served with the British forces during WWI. In June 1945, at age 18, Jack enlisted in the Air Force. He was transferred to many bases throughout Australia during his time with the Air Force.
