Joe Barrington was born in Randwick on 8 November 1920. At the age of 20, Barrington enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force. After training in Australia, Barrington sailed with a group to America to continue training and from there to England. His first post following his training to fly Spitfires was in Corsica and Southern France flying missions in Italy. He then was sent back to England and flew missions over Belgium and Holland. He then was part of the occupying forces after the war.
Joe was very involved in Jewish organisations such as Australian Jewish Welfare Society and NAJEX. He passed away in 2018.
