He is considered to be a good candidate to study in academic institutions. Crowned eagle coat of arms in background of certificate, small ink stamp near top showing faculty of philosophy.

    Jakob Sapir, his wife Tola and son Peter, travelled in the late 1930s from Poland to Vilno in Lithuania, then on to Moscow. They then travelled from Vladivostock to Kobe, Japan and eventually arrived in Shanghai in 1941. They lived in the French quarter in Shanghai, but were later moved into the Hongkew ghetto. Peter Sapir attended St. Francis Xavier's school, run by English priests, which was outside the ghetto boundary. Jakob Sapir earned a living in Shanghai running a Polish kitchen. The family left Shanghai in 1947, aboard the "Hwa Lien" ship, migrating to Sydney, Australia.

      Polish MO1/O1.62 CERTIFICATE OF MATURITY (Educational maturity equivalent to the Higher School Certificate) The certificate was issued to Mr Jakob Sapir Born 17 June 1941 in Lodz by the Government School that he attended called SZKOLA REALNA in the City of Tarnapol. He completed his seventh year of studies and passed his exam (i.e. the ‘maturity’ exam) on the 13th June 1923. He sat for it for the first time. He is considered to be a good candidate to study in academic institutions. This certificate was issued in the City of Tarnapol on the 13th June 1923. The certificate on the top right hand corner has a stamp from the Dean of the faculty of philosophy of the Fagiellonski University. It was sighted by the faculty dean on 19/9/1923. Mr Sapir became a student of this university which is in Krakow and studied in the faculty of philosophy.
