Attempts to foresee developments in attitudes to the Holocaust over a 50-year period from the year 2000. Considers the role of writers and artists in this process. Emphasises necessity of Israel's reaching a rapprochement with the Palestinians as a way of perpetuating the memory of the Holocaust.
