    DescriptionMedal awarded to Private Samuel Singer for service during the First World War. The 'face side' features a winged female figure; the obverse side bears the inscription 'The Great War for Civilisation, 1914-1918'. Along the rim is the inscription '1621 Pte S. Singer 2 Bn AIF'.

    1621 being his service number.

    Samuel Singer, born in London in 1891, enlisted in the Australian Imperial Forces and served in the 2nd Battalion in 1914. He was killed by a shell in France on 25 July 1916. He is listed in a memorial to fallen British Commonwealth Soldiers, in Villers-Bretonneux, France.
