In addition to his expertise and pioneering work in contemporary history and the Holocaust, Laqueur was an internationally recognised geopolitical analyst on terrorism, the radical right in Germany and Russia, communism, Zionism and the Israel-Arab conflict. He directed the Wiener Library in London and co-founded the important scholarly Journal of Contemporary History
