The document ensures all the rights and status of an Australian citizen and a British subject and bears a red seal from the Minister for Immigration, Australia. It has a secondary date of 06 May 1949, the date on which Ernst appeared before the Magistrate to swear allegiance. His address (in Enfield NSW) and appearance details appear on the reverse. Ernst was born 08 June 1874, in Prague. He and his wife, Stephanie (nee Strakosch), migrated from German-occupied Austria to Australia in 1939, before the start of WWII. Ernst was president of B'nai B'rith in Vienna and was instrumental in establishing it in Australia.
