ОписаниеCrudely carved wooden sculpture of a "wanderer" - depicting an old man with a beard, walking, wearing a hat and coat, carrying a walking stick and pack. It was given in appreciation to Mr and Mrs Gill, who worked for the Australian Red Cross and visited DP camps in Germany, taking medical and other supplies to the people there. The sculpture has the letters "D.P." engraved on the base - displaced persons - drawing parallels between the refugees in the camps and the archetypal Jewish wanderer with no home.

An inscription, in ink, on the base of the carving reads: "Remembrance for Mrs. D.F. Gill from Portilas Kanes, Berchtesgaden, 21.10.1946". The base features a small enamel badge with an unknown crest.
