Explores Holocaust commemorations in postcolonial Dutch society. Resistance against Holocaust remembrance and education became a widespread phenomenon in Western Europe in the first decade of the 21st century. The chapter highlights the commemoration, Remembrance of the Dead on 4 May 2013, where antisemitic disturbances at seven locations in Amsterdam lead to a public heated debate. Ensel highlights the difficulty for second generation immigrants in the Netherlands to conceive this type of memorial, to reflect and conceive the commemoration of the Holocaust as a responsibility for all Dutch citizens.
