The fundamental problem of the direct and long-term consequences of the Holocaust is the way in which the event has imprinted itself on the consciousness of individuals. In the case of Poland, a question is whether and in what way the Holocaust features in individual identification and ways of defining Jewishness by Polish Jews and Poles of Jewish descent
