Emmanuel Santos is a documentary and art photographer who was born in the Philippines in 1957 and is currently based in Melbourne, Australia. In his early career, he worked as a photographer for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees while still living in the Philippines. After moving to Australia in 1982, he briefly pursued a career as a folk singer.
Since the late 1980s, Santos has focused his creative work on the Jewish Diaspora, capturing their experiences through photography across the world. His photographs are featured in a number of museum collections, including the National Gallery of Victoria, Jewish Museum of Australia, Bibliothèque nationale de France, State Library of Victoria, Victorian Arts Centre, Jewish Holocaust Centre, and the National Library of Australia.
