Создатель William Gallacher (author), Earl Browder (author)
ОписаниеA booklet of 32 pages published and printed in Sydney in 1944 entitled ‘Jew-Baiting is Cannibalism’. The front cover depicts a monstrous Hitler devouring a human bone.
The booklet was written by two prominent communists: William Gallacher, Communist Member of the House of Commons and Earl Browder, General Secretary of the Communist Party of the United States. It contains a variety of chapters refuting statements of antisemitic propaganda. Chapters include: ‘The Meaning of Antisemitism’, ‘The Real Motives Behind Jewish Hatred’, ‘How Prejudice is Nourished’, ‘Hitler’s Followers’, ‘How to Combat Anti- Semitism.’
A Foreword to the booklet written by Len Sharkey, the then President of the Australian Communist Party, explains the texts significance in the Australian context. Sharkey states: 'Jewish people are a minute fragment of the Australian population…many of us may be inclined to consider the antisemitic danger somewhat remote from us…. Browder points out that this was the very thing that assured the success of Hitler’s antisemitic campaign in Germany…most Germans, not having seen a Jew, were all the more influenced and terrorized by the “hidden monster” manufactured by the Hitler-Goebbels propaganda machine.’ He writes: ‘antisemitism is the most dangerous weapon in the hands of the enemies of the labor movement and the people’s cause.’
