(Union des Juifs pour la Resistance et l'Entraide), this document allows the holder to move freely around Lyon and Villeurbranne and to cross bridges. The document testifying to the presence of Jewish resistance groups in occupied France.
Irma Meyer (nee Bauer) 1906-1998: Arrived in Dijon, France, in 1939. As the German army advanced, she fled to Lyon. In mid 1942-43 she became a member of the UJRE (Union des Juifs pour la Resistance et L’Entraide) an underground Jewish organisation supported by the French Communist Party.
She operated under the name of Tissia, till the liberation of Lyon. She was arrested by the French militia together with a male member of the group, Mr. Goldman, who went on the last deportation train from France. He didn’t survive.
