In 2005 a canister of film was discovered in a Devon church. The film was shot in the Ukraine and Crimea in 1943 and showed the German SS and the police building a road. This book is the story of the road and the process of building it, as well as the lives of the Jewish slaves who endured beatings, torture and murder so that the road could be built.
