Description
This article analyses the early opposition to political Zionism in Australia which was supported by Sir Isaac Isaacs and Rabbi Jacob Danglow. This view changed with the Holocaust and the arrival of Jewish refugees from Nazism in the late thirties and the survivors of the Holocaust after the war. Dr Herbert Vere Evatt, Labor Foreign Minister played a part in the foundation of the Jewish State and the admittance of Israel into the United Nations with Zionism becoming mainstream amongst Australian Jewry.
