Description

The fighters of the uprising failed to change the fate of the Jews of Warsaw or the Jews who were taken to the death camps. Nonetheless it was a response that stood in contradiction to the Jews' tendency to adapt and obey orders. The fighters organised themselves, carried weapons and even managed to drive the Germans out of the ghetto. This was a message of unique importance which became part of the national narrative of the Jewish people
