This article has been an attempt to assess several facets of the act of 'timing' in the world of German Jews under Nazi rule. The reality of German Jewish life during those years led to a profound change in their 'lived time' - an outcome reflected inter alia in the obstruction of the prospective view of the world, forcible deceleration of life, and the intensive experiencing of 'waiting time'. This transformation was perceptible in the Jews' political and ideological discourse and in the individual's world
