Hillel Kook, better, known as Peter Bergson, a young Jewish activist from Jerusalem managed to lead a protest campaign that ultimately forced the Roosevelt administration to change its policy toward European Jewish refugees during the Holocaust. The leaders of the Group were able to play a direct role in organising the rescue of tens of thousands of Jewish refugees and their transportation to safety in Palestine
