Description
Briefly discusses the early ghettos in Germany, Venice and Prague as background to an in depth discussion of the history of the Frankfurt ghetto. This is the only ghetto within Germany, except for the one in Worms, to have a continuous history from its establishment until the Wars of the French Revolution. Historical study shows that although the ghetto did impose a life of suffering, it was still a life of manifold activities in both social and cultural aspects.
