Description

Focuses on three aspects of the Portugal-Jewish axis. The first concerns Jews persecuted by the Nazis from the late 1930s until the beginning of the 1940s. The second concerns Antonio de Oliveira Salazar and his ambassadors and consuls who became involved in the Jewish question. The third aspect concerns the way the consuls dealt with persecuted Jews. An analysis of the attitude of Portuguese diplomats forms the backbone of this article
