Description
Emphasises the necessity of evaluating audiotaped testimonies of Holocaust survivors not by the words alone but also by the emphasis placed on them, the pauses between them, and their individual meanings. We should, the author argues, formulate a "guide to survivor narratives," ensuring that emotions do not replace facts. At best, it is suggested, such narratives offer only a portion of the truth.
