Description
Addresses the role of Fritz Schellhorn, the German consul in Romania before and during World War II. Based on his papers some have argued that it was not Popovici but Schellhorn who prevented the deportation of 22,000 Jews by the Romanians during World War II This article examines his wartime and postwar activities anew. It places these against the backdrop of the Holocaust in Romania, and contributes to the debate used to categorize people's behaviour during the Holocaust
