The author reviews the attitude of the Judenrats to armed resistance. There was no uniform approach to the problem, some rejected outright the idea of armed resistance within the ghetto or of escaping to the forests to join the partisans. There were others which approved of the resistance groups in their ghettos and gave them moral and material support. Others were ambivalent and vacillated on the problem of resistance
