Description

Focuses on the Czechoslovak-Hungarian demarcation line in late 1938 in order to examine the appearance, qualities and broader impact of this refugee no man's land. Following the November 2, 1938 First Vienna Award, which accorded large sections of southern Slovakia to Hungary, this line proved crucial in creating "spaces of exclusion". Much of the available scholarship has linked the 1938 sites of persecution with the broader context of the Holocaust in Slovakia
