Description
Based on the analysis of comments and documentation from the USHMM the author illustrates the tension between the didactic and the memorial aims of the museum. Importantly he demonstrates that the inherent instability of memory means that despite the best efforts of the museum , the memories and meanings visitors leave with lie outside and beyond the institution's control.
