The female sculptor, Erzsebet Schaar has a high positiion in modern 20th century Hungarian art. During the Kadar era in Hungary, both Jewish identification and anti-semitism were not talked about, and consequently the historical investigation and memorialization of the Holocaust were severely limited. There was a mutual, silent agreement not to talk about anything that was bothering the present. The Holocaust was erased from public discourse
