Chapter 1:Research in German: most research has been done by historians with some input from educationalists. Research conducted in the 70s 80s about influence of different aspects of education including school, home and mass media and beliefs about Nazi period and persecution of Jews. Recently German curricula, teacher education and teacher experiences as well as studies in classrooms. Research has also used quantitative surveys to measure the impact of visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial on German students. Discussion about issues in research and when teaching about the Holocaust should begin.
