Examines the ghettos in Transnistria and concentrates on the Djurin ghetto and bases her research mainly on the diary of Lipman Kunstadt. Discusses the complex relations between the different Jewish groups within the ghettos, on the one hand and between the Jewish ghetto population and the Romanian authorities and the local Ukrainian population on the other
