This article examines the lives of children in Auschwitz. Childhood in Auschwitz meant the child was to be subjected to camp registration, similarly to adults, to receive degrading treatment, to be deemed fit for work if they were or could pass for twelve years of age, or to live a relatively short life in the camp once they passed its first and subsequent selections
