Miroslaw Sawicki was born in February 1946 in Warsaw, In March 1968 he was one of the leaders of the student demonstrations, and was subsequently arrested and expelled from the university. After the imposition of martial law in 1981 he became a co-founder and activist of the Independent Educational Group. In 1990 he began to work for the Ministry of National Education and between 2002-2005 he was minister of national education
