Description

The hate comapign that began in March 1968 included aggressive antisemitic propaganda - mass mobilization agaist the 'enemies of socialist Poland' among whom the Zionists stood prominently; expusion of Jews from the party and government posts; the destruction or drastic restriction of Jewish institutions and organizations; and discrimination against and harassment of individuals for being Jewish. The wave of Jewish emigration that followed the campaign reduced the Jewish population in Poland by half and brought organized Jewish life to the edge of extinction.
