This essay argues that since the beginning of the 21st century the archival mode is increasing in importance, especially in the form of lists. The continuing establishment of Holocaust museums and memorials seems to be an important phenomenon of the last 10 years. Many of the recent memorial lists can be visited on the web. The most well-known example is probably the redesigned Hall of Names at Yad Vashem in Israel, reopened in 2005
