Description
The Berman Archive contains the records of the Jewish National Committee (ZKN) and the personal papers of its chairman Dr. Adolf Berman. The documents list people who were receiving financial assistance from the committee. On the basis of data analysed it would appear that aid organizations had 8,000-8,500 people under their care in the Warsaw area in 1944 and that the total number of Jews in hiding was between 15,000 and 20,000. This was the remnant of a larger number, estimated 27,000 who had managed to hide at one time or another.
