Examines the reaction of German military chaplains to the criminal policies of the regime. These men were direct witnesses of atrocity and mass murder and in the overwhelming majority of cases, the chaplains remained silent. There was a general tendency of chaplains to focus on providing the perpetrators with religious comfort rather than exerting their moral authority
