Description

Remembrance of World War II in the Soviet Union and post-Soviet Russia can be divided into 6 phases. Former concentration camp prisoners did not start to talk about their past until the collapse of the Soviet Union, and many former prisoners had spent their entire life concealing this from their families. Many people in the Soviet Union suffered and crimes against the country's own population were committed. The current policy and the patriotic education have resulted in racism and neo-Nazism in Russian society
