Description

When the process of extermination was at its height, definite signs of confusion and contradiction showed up in the "Final Solution" policy. Tens of thousands of concentration camp victims, many of them Jews laboured during the last months of the war in two munitions plants. In January 1945, orders were given to clear the camps. and this in effect pronounced the death sentence upon thousands of enfeebled prisoners. At liberation it is estimated that 100,000 prisoners remained alive, while approximately 80,000-100,000 perished during the last months of the war
